Mo Ibrahim Foundation is currently inviting applications from the citizens of Africa for the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowships Programme to support good governance and great leadership in Africa.
The Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship Program is a selective Fellowship that prepares the next generation of outstanding African leaders by providing them with unique work opportunities at the most senior level of prominent African institutions or multilateral organizations, whose mandate is to improve the economic and social prospects of Africa. The selected fellows will work in one of the following three institutions:
- The African Development Bank (AfDB). Job Department – Strategy Development.
- The International Trade Centre (ITC)
- The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Job category- Technical Advisor.
Fellows will be working for a period of 12 months with the host institutions.
Programme Objectives
- Stimulate debate on good governance;
- Provide criteria by which citizens and governments can measure progress;
- Recognize achievement in African leadership and provide a practical way in which leaders can build positive legacies on the continent when they have left office;
- Support aspiring leaders for the African continent.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a national of an African country residing anywhere in the world.
- Applicant must have 7-10 years of relevant work experience.
- Applicant must hold a Master’s Degree.
- Age bar for applicant is under the age of 40; or 45 for women with children.
- Applicant can be young professional, mid-career and new executive.
