GRHO was established in August 2002 by a dedicated and committed group of young professionals for the promotion of communities’ health, livelihood and development, particularly that of women in Balochistan. GRHO is a not-for-profit organization that works for all the communities without any racial, religious and ethnic discrimination. The Organization was registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Ordinance 1961, vide Registration number DSW-1135 with the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Balochistan during the same year.
GRHO started its initial operations on self-help basis during the early months of its establishment; soon extended its network and became one of the most effective organizations of the province. The Organization caters to the social and physical infrastructural development of the vulnerable segments of the population, especially focusing on the fields like Basic Human Rights, including Child & Women Rights, Primary Health Care, Health & Hygiene, HIV/AIDS, Education and Water and Sanitation, etc.

GRHO strives for the human resource development and empowerment of communities through participatory and people oriented interventions at grass roots through safeguarding their basic rights, provision of basic needs, access to information and elimination of gender imbalances.

Organizational Policies and Procedures:
GRHO has developed a comprehensive operational document for the smooth and transparent functioning of organizational affairs. The document explains the hierarchy of organization, mandate and authority of each tier of organization, financial policies, HR policies, procurement procedures and also expresses the internal value system of GRHO.
GRHO firmly believes in financial transparency and has zero tolerance policy regarding the misuse for resources or any kind of discrepancies. For this purpose, GRHO follows the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and has a very strong check and balance system in place for the spending of financial resources. The hired professional and qualified staff maintains accounts in a professional manner.
Geographical Areas of Work:
At the out set of GRHO, it was decided to provide services throughout the province; the head office is based at the provincial headquarters (Quetta) and the field offices are established in 4 districts of Balochistan (Quetta, Gawadar, Jaffarabad and Kech-Turbat) . Purpose of establishment of these offices is to have close contacts with regard to planning, implementation and monitoring of the projects and make them more efficient and effective with minimal costs. Presently, these offices overlook the projects in different districts; i.e Quetta, Kech (Turbat), Gawadar, Lasbella, Punjgur, Kalat, Pishin, Nushki, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Khuzdar, Mastung, Qila Abdullah and Loralai. Some of the projects are completed while a few others are in progress.
Our partners include Balochistan AIDS Control Program, National AIDS Control Program, Provincial Ministry of Health, CIDA, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR, USAID, ARC, Mercy Corps, Family Health International, Plan Pakistan, The Asia Foundation, TVO and OXFAM.
