Request for Proposals by Women’s Initiative of United Way of Central Massachusetts

The Women’s Initiative of United Way of Central Massachusetts is offering a unique opportunity for programs to submit requests addressing the issue of “Violence Affecting Middle School Girls.”

The Women’s Initiative is a group of volunteers who have join their hands together to make a difference in our society. This organization is engaged in creating a powerful force to create an impact in our community. Since its inception in 2003, the organization has worked with voluntary committees of community leaders. Moreover, the organization has engaged more than 1,400 individuals and raised an amount of $2,000,000.The current priority of this member-run organization is to curb violence in the lives of adolescent girls by addressing underlying causes, investing resources to create positive changes, and measuring the results.

The Women’s Initiative employs three strategies to address identified needs in this area:

For this funding opportunity, the Women’s Initiative will consider proposals which address the issue reducing the incidence of violence affecting middle-school age girls through the strategy of Building, Strengthening and Supporting the Development of Healthy, Confident and Safe Adolescent Girls. All proposals will be submitted to United Way of Central Massachusetts using the online ANDAR application. 

Deadline for proposal submission is Wednesday, February 1, 2012

    PROJECT SUMMARY
    The project seeks to create a sustainable livelihood for street children and adolescents in Mbeya city, through executing their rights to education, survival, and development. shall provide them with, socio-economic support services, school re-admission, vocational and entrepreneurship skills and call for various duty bearers to meet their obligation to children.

    GOALS
    To provide street children’s , adolescents, children living with HIV/AIDS and orphans in the streets of Mbeya City with social, economic and educational self sustaining services for improvement of their livelihood by providing all basic human needs eg; food, clothing, shelter, medical care/health services, clean water, access to information, access to education, spiritual nourishment by teaching the world of God eg Muslims and Christians, Beneficiaries:- This project is meant for the benefit of children in different circumstances with stress on the street and working children, boys and girls who are about aged of 0-17.
    In order to solve the number of children running to the street,

    we have estabished a pre school for orphans and vurnable children 3-10 years. we are luck of learning materials, games, toys. please if you may support we will be highly appreciated.

    We are planing to have lunch during Christimas for more than 600 children, if you wish to visit us, provide some presents/gifts in kinds , you are warmly welcome.
    We are looking for sponsorship for children (orphans and children living with HIV/AIDS) who wants to join secondary school form one 2012.

    School building partinership/support (orphans and vurnable children will be considered)/fish ponds, in order to save lives of orphans and vurnable children as income gennerating activities
