The Sixth African Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect will be organized at the UN Conference Centre at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 4-6 May 2009. The conference will be a forum for children, parents, teachers, educators, administrators, child care providers, policy makers etc in sharing experiences and practices on early child care and education, examine challenges and opportunities and share information to guide policy and intervention program. The African Network for the Prevention of and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) is organizing the confernece with the support of UNICEF Ethiopia, Oak Foundation, Save the Children Alliance in Ethiopia, Plan Ethiopia, Fredskorpset, Italian Development Cooperation, Action Aid Ethiopia and other organizations. An expert meeting will be organized on 2 April 2009 on the “Roles and Responsibilities of Civil Society Organizations: how best to reach CABA?” by the Dutch Working Group on Children affected by AIDS (CABA WG) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The meeting will discuss the roles of CSOs as to how they can support families with children affected by HIV/AIDS and how the communities of CABA can be made more effective. Specifically, the meeting will address the how CSOs can relate to government efforts, the advocacy options and meaningly for participation of children affected by HIV/AIDS.
