The Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) a joint project of YouthServe, Inc. and the Joseph S. Bruno Charitable Foundation is seeking proposals to drive positive community change in the Birmingham metro region of Alabama through an effective grant. Council is comprised of twenty area teens who study in depth about the grant-making process.
YouthServe is committed to promoting youth volunteerism and leadership, while giving young people the tools to make positive differences in their communities. YouthServe, Inc. believes that today’s youth, regardless of their race, religion, or socioeconomic background, need the opportunity to reap the benefits of volunteering.
Grant Information
The council awards $20,000 to community non-profits.
Objectives
- Improving the quality of education, preference MAY be given to organizations focused on the following: college preperatory/gaining access to higher education, GED, Job Readiness, Sex Education, drug/alcohol abuse treatment and prevention among teens.
- Decreasing the effects of poverty, preference MAY be given to organizations providing help in assisting or preventing homelessness among teens.
- Promoting social justice, preference MAY be given to organizations focusing on food security, youth sex trafficking, institutional racism, gang violence, equal access to healthcare, child abuse
