The European Union via its European Instrumer of Democracy and Human Rights(EIDHR) is accepting proposals from organizations to protect democracy and human rights in Uzbekistan.
Programme Objectives
- To support thematically focused civil society actions in the area of human rights and democracy.
- To support actions for the development and strengthening of civil society via CSOs, civil society representatives’ and human rights defenders’ capacity building, support of their activities, networking and cooperation.
Size of Grants
The size of the grants requested should be between EUR 60,000 and EUR 390,000.
Location & Duration
All actions must take place in Uzbekistan and the initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 12 months nor exceed 36 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must: be a legal person or an entity without legal personality and belong to one of the following categories:
- civil society organizations, including non-governmental non-profit organizations and independent political foundations, community-based organizations, and private sector nonprofit agencies, institutions and organizations, and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level;
- international or regional inter-governmental organisations;
- natural persons
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- be non-profit-making.
- The applicant must act with its co-applicant which must satisfy all the eligibility criteria as that of the applicants.
- Applicants and co-applicants must act with affiliated entity(ies) which include:
- Entities directly or indirectly controlled by the beneficiary (daughter companies or first-tier subsidiaries). They may also be entities controlled by an entity controlled by the beneficiary (granddaughter companies or second-tier subsidiaries) and the same applies to further tiers of control;
- Entities directly or indirectly controlling the beneficiary (parent companies). Likewise, they may be entities controlling an entity controlling the beneficiary;
- Entities under the same direct or indirect control as the beneficiary (sister companies).
How to Apply
- The application procedure consist of two phases:
- Phase 1: Concept notes
- Phase 2: Full proposal
- Only concept notes will be evaluated first and the selected applicants will be invited to submit the full proposals.
- Prior registration in Europe Aid’s on-line database, PADOR, is obligatory for applicants, co-applicants and affiliated entities.
- Applicants must be registered before submitting the concept note, while co-applicants and affiliated entities must be registered prior to submission of the full application, if applicable.
