The inspiration to develop this idea has been from my own experiences. I dropped out of school after 8th std as my family was facing a financial crisis and I had to start working to supplement my family’s income. I did many odd jobs, from manual labour (hamali), to working in catering business, in a chemical shop, in shoe shop etc. Most of my jobs were small and labour intensive. My earnings were meager and I had a desire to do well in life. I did a paraprofessional course to upgrade my career. Today when I see some of my school mates who had continued their education doing well, I regret not completing my studies. I see a lot of youngsters like me on the verge of giving up education. I can see their future from my own experience and would like to stop them throwing away their lives before it’s too late. I have good facilitation skills and can motivate youth through indoor and outdoor activities to understand self and social issues. My work at Magic Bus has enabled me to facilitate an environment of self belief for the youth. I have 7 years of experience in facilitating life skills programmes to youth and children. Since a year, every Sunday I take 2 to 3 hours sessions with an average of 25 youth and children addressing different social issues through sport. I provide them with information on addiction, hygiene, global warming, vices and try and orient their focus on education.I live in Malwani area that is a den of communal disharmony, drug addiction, illiteracy and unemployment and many other social issues that creep up in a socially backward area. Rahee has a focus of promoting education and tackling addiction in children and youth.
