The Smithsonian Institution is currently inviting applications from US and Non-US scholars for its Fellowships Program 2016. The Smithsonian Institution’s centrally-funded flagship fellowship program. This Fellowship are awarded annually to scholars wishing to conduct independent study or research at one or more of the Smithsonian’s 19 units and research centers.
The Smithsonian Institution fellowship program supports independent research and Smithsonian facilities, experts and collection for the increase and knowledge of diffusion. Smithsonian office offered fellowship and internships under the character of Institute, 20 U.S code section 41 et seq.

Stipend allowances
Smithsonian Institution fellowships award amount are:
- Graduate Student Fellowship: $7000.00 for 10 weeks
- Predoctoral Student Fellowship: $32,700 annually, research allowance up to $4,000 total
- Postdoctoral Researcher Fellowship: $48,000 annually, research allowance up to $4,000 total
- Senior Researcher Fellowship: $48,000 annually, research allowance up to $4,000 total
Eligibility Criteria
- The program is open to US citizens and Non-US citizens.
- All application must be fluently in English.
- A fellowship may not be awarded to any person who has been employed by or under contract to the Institution in the previous year without the prior approval of the Office of Fellowships.
