Grassroots International is an international development organization supporting movements and organizations in the United States and in other countries of the world. The organization provides grants to partner agencies in developing countries and the focus is on “land, water and food as human rights and nourishing the political struggle necessary to achieve these rights.”
Grassroots International provides grants in three categories: sustainable livelihood, leadership movement and defending human rights. The sustainable livelihood grants support “seeds and tools” for developmental project; the movement building grants support leadership especially among women and the youth and the defending human rights grants support activists and help them provide legal aid. The organization does not accept unsolicited proposals.
