Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust funds NGOs in South Africa

The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust is a UK-based independent organization providing funds to NGOs and other bodies on peace, political equality and social justice. The organization also funds individuals working in these areas. Although the funding is geographically confined to South Africa, in addition to UK and Ireland, the Trust issues funding notifications and call for proposals from NGOs around the world to work on peace and conflict resolution in their own countries.

The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust has a clear agenda of pursuing issues to the roots and tackling them there. For this, it is involved in philanthropy so that it can actively support efforts for peace, equality and justice. The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust is named after Joseph Rowntree (1836-1925), who was a successful businessman and gave endowments to the Trust out of his property.

Grant applications are accepted by the Trust round the year. However, for its own convenience to make decisions on grants, the Trust has fixed certain deadlines to accept applications. Applicants need to go through the programmes before applying for the funds. For more information on grants, visit this link.
