New World Foundation supporting Activists and Organizations

The New World Foundation provides grant support to activists working for the promotion of human rights in the United States and around the world. The Foundation has been supporting progressive activists for building strong alliances “for social justice, civil rights and economic and electoral issues since 1954.” The projects supported through the funds provided by the Foundation help build the capacities of the organizations and groups, their leadership, policy alternatives and new alliances for social change.

The Foundation manages four funding programs and four special projects and programs. The funding programs include The Global Environmental Health & Justice Fund, The New Majority Fund, The Phoenix Fund for Workers & Communities, Arts and Justice Program and the Special Projects & Programs. The special projects and programs include COIN Take Action initiative, Resource Lab, Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy and Seminars & Workshops. Out of these programs, Global Environmental Health & Justice Fund provides funding to organizations based outside the United States. There are eight countries eligible to receive funding and these include
Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Nigeria, India, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals.
