United States Institute of Peace

The United States Institute of Peace works to “prevent and resolve violent international conflicts, promotes post-conflict stability and development and increases conflict management capacity, tools and intellectual capital worldwide.” The Institute has been working in conflict zones for mediation, management and reform, carrying out research, providing training on conflict management, educating students and supporting policymakers around the world.

USIP has two grantmaking competitions: Annual Grant Competition and Priority Grantmaking Competition. The Annual Grant Competition supports NGOs in peacebuilding projects that can include researchm developing models, tools and resources and development of media. The specific topics covered under this grant competition include: Conflict analysis and prevention;Mediation and conflict resolution;Postconflict peace and stability operations;Religion and peacemaking;Rule of law and transitional justice;International organizations and collective security;Economies and conflict;Social, psychological, and physical impacts of war and conflict;Media and conflict.

NGOs around the world can apply for the grant once in a year. There is one deadline per year and this is 1 October and all applications for that year should reach the Institute before this date.
