The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) have announced an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects to Support Independent Media in Belarus .
DRL’s objective is to increase citizens’ access to and interaction with independent media that provide objective information on local and national issues by enhancing local independent media’s ability to reach a larger audience, and strengthening their link to local civic activism and initiatives.
In order to strengthen Belarusian independent media and foster links between journalists and the communities they serve, DRL seeks program proposals that will raise the quality of local media, increase the Belarusian public’s access to reliable and unbiased information, and create platforms and opportunities for discussions on important issues affecting Belarusian citizens, both in their local communities and at a national level.
Funding Information
DRL anticipates having approximately $475,000 available to support approximately one successful application submitted in response to the programme.
Eligibility Criteria
U.S.-based and foreign-based non-profit organizations/nongovernment organizations (NGO) and public international organizations; private, public, or state institutions of higher education; and for-profit organizations or businesses are eligible to apply for the programme.
