The Cord is currently inviting applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Development Director based in Coventry, UK.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Development Director will perform the following functions-
- Develop a new funding strategy for Cord to maximize the balance of unrestricted, semi restricted and restricted funding streams;
- Maintain and grow Cord’s existing supporter base (currently through institutional and private donors, trusts, churches and schools);
- Set, maintain, oversee and support targets for the fundraising team;
- Research, target and develop new funding and partnership relationships with private sector companies, high net worth individuals and philanthropic organisations in the UK and in the regions in which Cord works;
- In consultation with Country Directors and the EMT, develop and implement a strategy for new business development and other prospects for income generation;
- Manage due diligence and ethical checks for new business approaches so that all Cord’s partnerships meet our values;
- Lead on the management of Cord’s supporter database;
- Support country teams to demonstrate the outcome and impact of Cord’s work and lead on the communication of Cord’s impact to a wider audience;
- Lead on the development of a communications strategy;
- Support the CEO to build Cord’s external profile within the third and private sectors;
- Support the Global Programme Director to develop an advocacy strategy, using the opportunities presented by key events in international development and peacebuilding;
- Support the CEO to develop and nurture of Cord’s key relationships;
- Assist the Learning Department and country teams in articulating and evidencing Cord’s key policy initiatives;
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Minimum 5 years’ experience securing partnerships and funding;
- Experience in the development of organisational funding and communications strategies would be a distinct advantage;
- Experience of managing and motivating diverse teams;
- Experience of working with senior managers and strategic leadership;
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (including with senior managers);
- Excellent administrative skills including the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Innovative and creative approach to telling Cord’s story and developing new partnerships;
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail;
- Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
- Excellent presentation skills and customer service attitude;
- Strong cross-cultural skills.
