The Retrak is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Director of Business Development based in Manchester, UK.
The Director of Business Development will lead the strategic development and implementation of Retrak’s fundraising from institutions, trusts and foundations, other international NGOs, the public and individuals, identifying, developing and building strategic relationships with all potential key partners to maximise funding opportunities and increase income.
Retrak is a charity which reaches out to the vulnerable children to provide them with the food, medicine, clothing, hygiene and shelter which they desperately need.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Director of Business Development will perform the following functions-
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the organisation which is consistent with Retrak’s Vision, Mission, Strategy and Values.
- Develop and oversee the delivery of robust business plans that support Retrak’s strategic priorities.
- Ensure the generation of and manage financial resources to ensure Retrak’s long term viability.
- Manage and monitor organisational activities in order to ensure that Retrak fulfils its business plans and contractual obligations and achieves its strategic objectives.
- Support and report to the Board of Trustees of Retrak as required.
- Deputise for the Chief Executive as required.
- Develop, build and evaluate the funding strategy to maximise funding for Retrak from Institutions, governments, Trusts and Foundations, the public and individuals.
- Be responsible for the delivery of Retrak’s fundraising targets.
- Ensure timely and quality proposals for new/extension/renewal funding bids.
- Create new business development opportunities for Retrak, including the commissioning of Retrak services from governments.
- Ensure monitoring of trends within funding activities, forecasting and developing strategies to reduce risk and mitigate negative impact on Retrak.
- Ensure that Retrak’s relations with all key donors, governments, and other funders are managed to a high professional standard both in practical and strategic terms.
- Develop and implement a strategy that will enhance Retrak’s profile and raise the organisation’s brand awareness amongst all potential funders.
- Provide authoritative external representation of Retrak to international and national institutional donors, INGOs and Trusts and Foundations.
- Provide internal leadership on strategic management, and internal co-ordination, of all major funding relationships.
- Ensure the production of good quality, timely reporting to donors.
- Develop and manage a system for the monitoring of pipeline opportunities.
- Manage a system for grant documentation ensuring effective tracking and monitoring of the proposal and reporting process.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
- Evidence of relevant training and continuing professional development.
- Proven track record in a senior role in an organisation involving multiple stakeholders and multi-contract funding environments.
- Demonstrable track record of securing significant funding targets from a variety of institutional, government and charitable trust sources.
- Experience of building, managing and developing key stakeholder, client and donor relationships and representing an organisation at the highest levels.
- Experience of strategic and operational planning including the setting and meeting of income targets.
- Excellent management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and facilitation skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce high quality proposals and reports
- Ability to analyse complexity and make appropriate strategic decisions.
- Ability to think strategically, visualise and translate the bigger picture.
- Financial management skills including the ability to track income and expenditure.
- Demonstrable ability to plan and prioritise a complex workload to meet deadlines.
