The Concern Worldwide is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Health and Nutrition Programme Manager, based in Tahoua, Niger. The duration of the position will be of 1 year.
The Health and Nutrition Programme Manager will oversee the implementation of the Health and Nutrition Programme.
The Concern Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and suffering in the world’s poorest countries.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Health and Nutrition Programme Manager will perform the following functions-
- Provide proactive leadership and management to add value to existing programming, promote best practices, contribute to on-going learning, and develop new programming in collaboration with the Health Advisor, Nutritionist and Assistant Country Director-Programmes (ACD-P) in line with the country strategy.
- Provide technical assistance (advice, training, capacity building, documentation, etc.) for all CSP and health integrated interventions.
- Ensure all programme staff/partners are fully oriented in Concern’s Programme Participant Protection Policy, HAP principles and commitments.
- With the support of the AC and the systems team (Logistics, HR, Finance, IT) ensure an effective, efficient and timely execution and management of the health and nutrition programme.
- Work with ACD-P, ACD-S, Health Advisor and Nutritionist in the process of developing and implementing Health and Nutrition annual operational & budget plan.
- Participate in the development and redaction of project concept notes and proposals; identify funding opportunities for the development and implementation of the programme.
- Hold, manage and oversee the health and nutrition budget by providing monthly (and as needed) feedback on management accounts.
- Apply Concern procurement procedures to ensure value for money and accurate financial reporting.
- Participate in program reviews and relevant programme meetings to support the enforcement of Concern programme approaches.
- Ensure high quality and timely reports are developed for donors and partners.
- Produce a monthly report of the health and Nutrition programme highlighting key progress, achievements and challenges.
- Participate in the writing of surveys reports, technical reports or other reporting related to the health and Nutrition programme.
- Liaise with the Livelihood and education programmes to ensure Concern’s work is both integrated and complimentary.
- Participate in management discussions and strategic decisions as a member of the Country Management Team.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Health Advisor, Nutritionist, ACDs and CD.
- Ensure the non-disclosure of any information whatsoever acquired in the course of duty, relating to the practices and business of Concern Worldwide, to any other person or Organization without authority, except in normal execution of the above duties.
- Ensure strict guardianship and security of data and documents at all times, including secure storage, accurate & complete filing.
- Ensure strict adherence to Concern Niger Financial Procedures and Fraud Policy and remaining within the boundaries of these policies at all times.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Masters in Public Health or equivalent qualification in health or community development.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in public health and project/programme management, with significant experience in developing/managing health and nutrition projects in a development context.
- Experience with budgeting and financial monitoring processes as well as project management tools.
- Strong staff management, capacity building and supervision skills.
- Proficient spoken and written English and French.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Prepared to work and live in challenging and remote locations.
- Experience working with Child Survival Programme and IMCI.
- Experience in working with partner organizations, health ministries, networking.
- Experience working in nutrition interventions, including CMAM.
- Experience working with mother and child health related projects.
- Experience in community mobilization / behavioral change strategies.
- Experience developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks for health and nutrition programmes.
- Training of trainers & facilitation skills.
- Experience in strategic development of country level health programming, including mainstreaming of cross cutting themes such as HIV and AIDS, gender, and equality.
