The Amnesty International is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Project Coordinator based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Working under direct supervision of Research and Advocacy Director for Africa, the Regional Project Coordinator provides high-level administrative and coordination support to the Africa Advocacy team and assist with administrative, logistical and coordination tasks related to the project and broadly to the Regional Advocacy Programme.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Regional Project Coordinator will perform the following functions-
- Leads coordination and communication between multiple programmes within the IS, including staff based in London and the Regional Offices on programmatic, financial, operational and administrative issues;
- Supports effective execution of regional advocacy strategies by facilitating planning processes within the Programme and ensuring that standard IS tools and systems are used appropriately for project planning, reporting and evaluations;
- Understands and uses a range of internal administrative and financial systems and processes and resolves related problems using established channels to enable the Programme to function effectively;
- Supports RAD in human resources management, finance and travel by providing guidance on and ensuring compliance with IS operational policies and guidelines and adherence to IS security and travel guidelines;
- Assist with production of training tools and materials and support Regional Advocacy Team in maintaining regular training sessions and workshops on regional advocacy with relevant IS staff;
- Maintain and regularly update the Programme’s contacts database and regional advocacy calendar;
- Manage and coordinate the Programme’s internal newsletter: ensure timely content development, formatting, design and layout, liaise with the translation team to ensure prompt issue of the French version and share final editions to relevant internal contacts across AI;
- Provide all other necessary administrative support to the RAD including filing, diary management and travel arrangements;
- Coordinate the effective planning of project deliverables, including setting up, scheduling, developing and implementing project components in accordance with the donor’s agreed criteria;
- Coordinate with Fundraising colleagues to manage relationship with the donor, Contribute to the design and conceptualisation of campaign actions, communications and materials, coordinating with relevant International Secretariat programmes;
- Provide information and project reports as required to the donor, programme management and other stakeholders that are responsive to their concerns and enable timely and effective decision making;
- Coordinate the evaluation of project work, document lessons learnt and provide regular feedback about effective and creative actions to stakeholders to ensure accountability, organizational learning, creativity and better planning.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Demonstrated experience of coordinating projects and understanding of donor-funded project coordination and management methodology;
- Demonstrated coordination skills and capacity to liaise, enable others, create synergy and tune initiatives to one another including experience of remote working with teams based in different locations;
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial management systems and procedures as well as experience of preparing and monitoring budgets and ability to identify budget problems and solve them;
- Strong time management skills and demonstrated experience of managing conflicting demands, meeting deadlines and adjusting priorities;
- Demonstrated experience in handling and communicating confidential and sensitive information;
- Ability to use sound judgment and initiative, solve problems and provide constructive inputs;
- Experience of working in a team and understanding of the importance of efficient communications for the effective functioning of teams;
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written, in English, including the ability to communicate complex information in a comprehensive manner;
- Ability to communicate in French, both oral and written, would be preferential;
