The World Health Organisation (WHO) is currently accepting applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Technical Officer (Health Technologies & Pharmaceuticals) based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
WHO works together with policy-makers, global health partners, civil society, academia and the private sector to support countries to develop, implement and monitor solid national health plans.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Technical Officer will perform the following functions-
- Provide technical advice to countries in analysing pharmaceutical sector problems, identification of relevant areas for the development, setting of priorities and assisting with implementation for pharmaceutical sector reform. Specific focus will be on support to the countries in relation to medical product regulation, quality assurance systems, guidance on responsible use of medical products as well as management of procurement and supply chain;
- Develop with counterparts specific documents such as national medical product policies, medical product legislation and regulation etc. as relevant;
- Lead the technical organisation of meetings, missions, courses, trainings, workshops etc.;
- Provide technical input towards the reform and development of basic and postgraduate education and training of pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in countries, including development of training courses and support materials;
- Provide updates to the situation analysis of member states in the area of medical products including updating programme web pages;
- Take active part in the formulation of selected BCAs’ workplans. To report on programme activities within EURO, to HQ and to donors;
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An advanced university degree (Master’s level or above) in pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences;
- Postgraduate training in health systems and policies and/or in public health;
- At least seven years’ experience in medical/ pharmaceutical product management at national level (public sector, IGO or NGOs), including at least two years at international level in technical assistance in pharmaceutical projects related to pharmaceutical policy development, medical product regulation and/or procurement and supply chain management;
- Experience of work with Eastern European countries. Knowledge of WHO and UN system;
- A very good command of the English language;
- Knowledge of Russian is a strong desirable;
- Knowledge of other WHO and/or EURO official languages.
