The Amnesty International (AI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Volunteer – Yemen Team based in London, UK.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Volunteer – Yemen Team will perform the following functions-
- The team monitors newspapers and other online media on a daily basis. Relevant articles are filed in an electronic database with particularly important news items forwarded to the team by email. The volunteer will be monitoring the Arabic and sometimes English press.
- The volunteer will be expected to carry out specific research tasks as agreed upon by the team. These tasks will include online data collection, legal and human rights text acquisition and summary, phone interviews with victims of human rights violations or their families, maintaining and updating logs on a number of human rights issues, and others.
- Most of the team’s outputs are published in both English and Arabic and the volunteer may be asked to proof-read Arabic translations of urgent actions, press release, or reports.
- The volunteer will be asked from time to time to answer general correspondence by letter or email.
- Apart from the electronic filing system, the team also has a system for hardcopy filing, which the volunteer may be asked to help organise and archive.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Knowledge of, or interest in, Yemen;
- Good attention to detail;
- Good working knowledge of computers: familiarity with word, excel and other databases;
- Good level of written and spoken English;
- Fluent level of reading and writing Arabic;
- Willingness to undertake administrative work such as photocopying, filing, and archiving;
- Background through study, work or other experience in a relevant area, such as law, international relations, political science or social sciences.
