The World Bank is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Education Specialist/Economist, based in Yangon, Myanmar.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Education Specialist/Economist will perform the following functions-
- Support the daily management of the education portfolio.
- Support the education sector operations and knowledge tasks in Myanmar, working jointly with other World Bank team members, clients, and development partners (DPs) that actively support the improvement of the country’s education sector performance.
- Provide day to day operational support and interact with the government on operational aspects of the projects.
- Contribute to client efforts to reform education systems, expand access, and improve quality at all education levels.
- Support the team lead (currently based in Washington DC in the interaction with clients at policy level.
- Participate in partnership activities on a regular basis, with multilateral and bilateral development partners, non-profit organizations and civil society.
- Other duties and tasks as specified by the Practice Manager, and the relevant project Task Team Leaders or whoever they may designate.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Post-graduate degree with minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an area relevant to human development work, such as education, public policy or related social science fields.
- In-country knowledge in operations and education sector in Myanmar and demonstrates ability to work with representatives of the government and non-government partners.
- Maintains client relationships in the face of conflicting demands or directions. Actively seeks and considers diverse ideas and approaches.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as ability to follow guidance from the team lead.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledge and Experience in Development Arena.
- Experience in working on challenging education projects, and policy-relevant analytical work.
