The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Operations Assistant, based in Papua New Guinea.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Operations Assistant will perform the following functions-
- Assist Country Economist with strategic operation and knowledge management work
- Provides assistance to the Country Economist on inputs as and when required including data collection and analysis for key ADB publications such as Asian Development Outlook, tri-annual Pacific Economic Monitor and annual Country Performance Assessment.
- Project Processing and Administration
- Assists in the processing and administration of Technical Assistance (TA) and grant projects under the responsibility of the Country Economist.
- Assists the Country Economist in the monitoring of the TA and grant project portfolio.
- Resident Mission Focal Point for Media and External Relations
- Undertakes efficient dialogue between Government and other stakeholders to coordinate key events and discussions. Maintains an accurate record of discussions and outcomes.
- Assists the Department of External Relations to deliver external relations priorities.
- Ensures that all correspondence and documents are correctly typed, prepared and submitted on time, in compliance with ADB standards.
- Monitors incoming and outgoing documents, reports, emails for action or reassignment (in the absence of responsible international staff).
- Ensures the effective coordination of supervisors’ schedules by maintaining their diaries and arranging appointments, meetings, travel and accommodation as specified by supervisors in accordance with ADB procedures.
- Ensures the office filing systems and records are properly maintained and updated in accordance with ADB standards, for easy retrieval.
- Provides backup support and relieves other Assistants in the Resident Missions (RM) in their absence, as required.
- Undertakes other tasks pertaining to RM work as assigned and reflected in the incumbent’s work plan.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business studies, commerce or related field
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Good memo composition and editing skills
- Good computer skills with a sound knowledge of common word-processing, and spreadsheet software
- Able to liaise and work effectively with staff within own work location
- Able to work collaboratively with teams as a constructive team member
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Able to work independently and set own work priorities
- Able to manage priorities and workload within general schedule of work, instructions and standardized practices
- Able to work with individuals from different cultural/national backgrounds; good interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiar with local languages and institutions
