The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Training Manager based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Training Manager will perform the following functions-
- Develop annual curriculum overview and work plan for the Engineering Training Facility, with clear curriculum objectives and resource allocation plans, to ensure development of a Rapidly Deployable Engineering Company (RDEC).
- Curriculum areas to ensure adequate training of RDEC to complete tasks including, but not limited to:
- Road construction;
- Airfield construction Helipad construction;
- Site clearing and filling;
- Transport, recover and maintain.
- Apply commonly used engineering calculations, practices and precedents in developing curriculum.
- Develop budgetary forecasts in line with resource allocation plans, including staff and training needs to ensure appropriate programme implementation.
- Prepare substantive review of TCC capacity and establish appropriate training programme and plan for capacity building of TCC stakeholders.
- Manage and support training staff within Engineering Training Facility.
- Ensure staff duties and administrative actions are implemented and coordinated with Operations Team.
- Ensure high quality implementation of curriculum.
- Liaise with other engineers and mission specialists responsible for related specialized areas to incorporate lessons learnt into the improvement of the training curriculum and capacity building initiatives.
- Screen and review work of Staff and capacity of TCC following training period and deployment.
- Train and manage mentor capacity of the Engineering Training Facility, required during deployment of units after training.
- Review performance, monitor development and evaluate approaches in line with curriculum and annual work plan.
- Develop and provide guidance for new capacity building initiatives.
- Produce regular, timely and accurate reports on training programme and capacity building efforts.
- Coordinate activities with Operations team, ensuring proper communication and knowledge sharing.
- Carry out any other tasks as required by the Country Director / Manager.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or Infrastructure Management or related fields.
- A Bachelors degree in relevant field of Engineering with an additional 2 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Masters degree;
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in engineering and base operations, with at least 3 years of demonstrated experience and/or qualification in capacity-building and training.
- Previous working experience with peacekeeping operations or in a conflict/post-conflict environment
- Experience in facilitating training with governments and non-governmental institutions, regional and international agencies as well as the private sector
- Fluency in English is required, both oral and written. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
