The Progressio is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Interim ICS Programme Manager based in Brixton, London.
Progressio is a UK-based charity working internationally to enable poor and marginalised people in developing countries to challenge and change the situations that keep them poor.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Interim ICS Programme Manager will perform the following functions-
- Implement Progressio’s ICS programme work plans to ensure the success and delivery of the new phase of the programme (goals and deliverables), while ensuring quality and standards of the volunteer journey (in the UK and in-country), in line with Progressio’s policies and procedures and those of the ICS central hub.
- Provide leadership and ensure that work plans, timelines and milestones are met for the different components of Progressio’s ICS programme (in the UK and in-country).
- In the case of emergencies affecting volunteers, effectively manage the UK response and assist in-country staff with local responses (out of hours).
- Liaise with, and provide support to Progressio’s in-country staff about placements and host partners, on an ongoing basis.
- Meet monthly with the DFA and the RSTC for updates and guidance.
- Attend monthly catch up meetings with the Head of Programmes and with the CE.
- Participate in ICS recruitment, selection, marketing, pre-departure training and returned volunteer events.
- Discuss potential new partnerships with in-country staff.
- Ensure information/recruitment days, selection days, pre-departure training and returned volunteer days/events run effectively and on budget.
- Work with the Head of Programmes, Policy and Public Engagement staff to ensure that ICS is integrated into the overall work of Progressio.
- Lead on specific consultancy pieces, this involves drafting TORs and participating in the selection of consultants.
- Represent Progressio on the ongoing negotiations pertaining to the new ICS phase.
- Involve and keep informed the CE, DFA and the RSTC on the ongoing negotiations.
- Liaise with the CE on addressing negative stories in the media on the ICS programme.
- Liaise with the ICS Accountant on expenditure and financial matters, and ensure the ICS programme (in the UK and in-country) is within budget.
- Assist ICS in-country staff with the preparation of annual plans and budgets and ensure ICS in-country expenditure remains within budget.
- Agree on individual goals and monitor performance.
- Conduct weekly team catch ups.
- Balance workloads between team members as appropriate.
- Participate in the selection and induction of new team members.
- Ensure the ICS team (UK and in-country), and other staff are informed of the main issues and debates concerning the ICS programme.
- Compile end of cycle reviews and share then internally and with the ICS central hub.
- Provide feedback on theories of change, project plans, team plans, project updates.
- Review team debriefs, case studies, project debriefs and share then internally.
- Ensure Progressio evaluates all stages of the volunteer journey, and records and disseminates lessons learnt (internally and externally).
- Ensure UK and in-country staff keep the database (Job Science) updated.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience of working on international development issues
- Qualification in project management or equivalent
- Solid track record of achieving programmatic impact through working with international NGOs on programme delivery
- Successful programme management implementation experience spread across different geographical locations
- Substantial experience in:
- Strategy formulation, implementation and monitoring
- Assessing and evidencing impact and learning
- Budget management (including financial reporting and reforecasting)
- Experience of representation at a senior level, network building and of working proactively with NGOs, young people’s and faith based networks
- Proven people management experience, including enabling others to achieve goals
- Experience of staff selection and induction
- Experience of building effective working relationships with a culturally diverse workforce, spread across different geographical locations
