Types of activities and categories suggested under USAID’s Development Grants Program under the Climate Change Adaptation Sector.

Under the climate change adaptation sector, clean productive environment will be covered. There are specific USAID missions that cover climate change adaptation sector and applicants applying under this should consult the list of USAID Missions for this.
Categories and types of activities under them
(1) Assessing local climate change vulnerabilities, and incorporate that information into the analysis, design and implementation of a development project.
- Enhance resilience of ecosystems that contribute to adaptation (e.g., mangroves and coral reefs that serve as storm buffers).
- Ensure provision of ecosystem services under a changed climate (e.g. enhancing resilience of biodiversity and protected landscapes to climate change impacts).
- Improve forestry and agricultural management practices in ways that can simultaneously promote diversified livelihoods, climate change adaptation, and climate change mitigation (e.g., reforestation can contribute to carbon sequestration and prevent soil erosion).
(2) Capacity building for adaptation.
- Enhance resilience of ecosystems that contribute to adaptation (e.g., mangroves and coral reefs that serve as storm buffers).
- Ensure provision of ecosystem services under a changed climate (e.g. enhancing resilience of biodiversity and protected landscapes to climate change impacts).
