Development Marketplace Grant Competition 2009

The World Bank has again opened up the Development Marketplace Grant Competition 2009 for NGOs working in the South Asian countries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka under the theme of “Family and Community Approaches to Improve Infant and Young Child Nutrition.” The proposals should consider empowerment of girls and women, increase accessibility of micro-nutrient-rich foods, changing household behavior and measuring the impact of community-based interventions.

The organizations submitting proposals will be shortlisted and invited to the South Asia Regional Marketplace event to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 4-6 August 2009. Only 70 organizations will be shortlisted and they need to present their ideas at the Marketplace, following which 25 winners will be selected by the jury. Winners willl be awarded with grants of up to US $40,000 to implement the project for a period of 18 months.
