This is the second call for proposals (2011-2012) for the Fund for Gender Equality that aims to provide grants for projects promoting women’s economic and/or political empowerment grants with a focus on women in situations of marginalization.
This UN Women’s global grantmaking fund was launched with an initial contribution from Spain (USD $65 million), Norway (USD $3 million), Mexico (USD $800,000) and most recently, the Netherlands (USD $1.18 million). It is currently seeking innovative and impact-oriented proposals from eligible countries in Africa, the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Central Asia and the Caribbean.
The themes to be covered under this Fund are:
Women’s Political Empowerment Grants:
To increase women’s political participation, leadership, and influence in the decisions that affect their lives, including through leadership trainings and education andwith a focus on youth.
Women’s Economic Empowerment Grants:
To increase women’s access to and control over resources and assets – including land, water, technology, and viable employment – while also addressing the disproportionate burden of unpaid care work on women and girls, with particular emphasis on holistic and environmentally sustainable development approaches.
Priority areas cover economic/political empowerment, gender equality, innovation & creativity, fostering dialogues, a rights-based approach, engagement of women in situations of marginalization, matching funds and sustainability. All programmes must articulate how they will achieve tangible results in the lives of specific groups of women and girls.
All grants range from a minimum of US$200,000 to a maximum of US$1 million distributed over a period of one to three years.
Proposals have to be submitted through an online application process which will open on March 12, 2012.

Chain of Hands is working since 2009. We are very much glad to do social work for human betterment & happiness. We are constantly trying to fulfill these two things in the lives for others. We are working on some project with a small team to achieve our mission to present them maximum betterment & happiness as much as we can serve. we have done number of projects which is (music, social living awareness program, community development, drugs control & fundraising programs for disable people). After 7 years of working now we only work for Cancer patient children’s which is all about giving them contentment during the painful treatment of this rigid cause. To fulfill our objective we are always looking for financial support but we strongly discourage begging for funds. We like to generate our fund through collaboration with Schools, Music bands & Charity shows. In this way we can give lots of opportunity to people, explore talents & come up front through ‘Chain of Hands’ & Cancer patient children’s take more pleasure to this kind of activities.
This is the kind request for the coming project in Karnali Zone in the issue of school leaving children Education for the poor and orphan children from karnali Zone. We want to work for the poor, vulnerable and malnutrition children through non-formula, formal education and nutritious food. The project will make able the vulnerable children from karnali zone with getting propoer education and income generating skills through non-formal education. We are ready to conduct the program voluntarily. This support will be the future if those group who are deprived from the opportunities and child rights. We can’t imagine the rights of the child in this situation. So, the social organization could work with this vulnerable children of Karnali Zone.
We are the students of BSW (bachelor of Social work) from Karnali Zone and other rural parts of Nepal. We want to work in the rural orphan Children and poor family Children support for education. We finished BSW recently and doing a lot social work experience during study time and field work time as well as program conduct of our Social organization. We established the organization SICDN-Nepal initiated by the Social work students from Karnali Zone.
So, we kindly request to respected Donor agency for conduct program in Karnali zone. We want to meet you for more talk and want to know about concerned issue in rural project.
