The Global Health Corps (GHC) aims to strengthen the movement for global health equity and improve the quality of healthcare services for the poor by connecting outstanding young leaders with organizations working on the front lines in the fight for global health equity…
The system requires an infusion of human capital today, but even more than that, a broad new set of leaders. The delivery of effective health care requires more than doctors and nurses. Despite these needs, opportunities are scarce for individuals with backgrounds in management and supply systems, computer programming, engineering, and other fields to embark on a career serving public health with their unique skills. Without these opportunities, too many skilled and ambitious young professionals are left out of the field, stifling a generation of innovative approaches to some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
To address this failure to nurture future innovative leaders in the public health field, we must provide opportunities for young professionals from a range of backgrounds who desire to serve effectively.
The Global Health Corps will provide these opportunities, matching young professionals with organizations for fully-funded year-long fellowships, and providing training, mentorship, and career guidance.
Global Health Corps Fellows will not only help organizations in the field enhance healthcare services for populations in need, they will be forever impacted by their experiences, returning to their homes to become the next generation of innovative leaders for global health.”
