The minimum and maximum amounts proposed under this call for proposals are €500,000 and €2,000,000. The EC will support up to 80% of the total costs of the project for local organizations but for international agencies, the grant will not exceed more than 50% of the total costs. The EC encourages applicants to seek partnerships with other agencies or generate local resources for this programme. Projects can be implemented only in the least-developed and low-income countries listed below.
Least Developed Countries: Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Dem. Rep., Djibouti, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Kiribati, Laos, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Rwanda, Samoa, São Tomé e Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Yemen and Zambia.
Other Low-Income Countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
Local NGOs and international organizations are eligible to apply for this funding opportunity. Initially, only five-page concept notes need to be submitted based on which, the EC will request full proposals from shortlisted organizations. All applicant organizations have to complete PADOR registration. Projects can be for durations of at least 12 months and not more than 36 months. The deadline to submit concept notes is 6 April 2010.
