Sudan Council of Churches is serving sudanese communities
This project seeks to empower the people of South Sudan to engage in democratic processes of determining their political destinies within the framework of the comprehensive peace agreement. This project will seek to provide copies of CPA and Interim Constitutions for distribution to the people of this State. It will also train trainers of trainees to carry out civic and voter education on Democracy and good governance from the grassroots in the three States of greater Upper Nile namely; Unity, Jonglei and Upper Nile state. This is meant to empower and prepare the people for informed decision in the upcoming new Nation through SUDAN COUNCIL OF CHURCHES (SCC)with collaboration to the government of southern Sudan (GoSS).e.g. greater Upper Nile States.
The SCC will also work with other actors who are willing to engage in the process of civic education and who may have more capacity than SCC in certain locations. The relationship with other civil society organizations, who have already declared a non-partisan stance, will be key partners in disseminating information on the ground.
In addition to the other engagements cited above, the SCC will also use mass media outlets for information dissemination. The print materials will also include pamphlets, posters, flyers etc. to education the public on the right to participate the nation. Educational programs will be a minimum of thirty minutes in length and will be broadcast in three States in both English and Arabic, depending on the States of the Region. Radio programs will include education on Democratic and good governance processes as well as practicing democracy at various levels of society (through discussions, interviews and dramas), in order for the public to make informed decisions in order to make the local people for the ending of the CPA in July 9/2011. This project also seeks to create an awareness among the communities in southern Sudan. Advocacy and lobbying will be a major focus of this project as it will be necessary to engage the current governments in ensuring transparent and equitable service to all southerners.
    thanks
