OSISA support for young women’s organizations and networks

The Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) has announced a call for proposals to support young women’s networks, organizations and initiatives to carry out activities during the 2010 16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women.

A part of the Young Women’s Voices Campaign 2010, “OSISA seeks to support young women in Southern Africa to take advantage of the 16 Days Global Campaign to raise their voices and speak-out about these (and other violations of young women’s rights) in their respective countries and at regional levels. Support will be given to organisations/networks and initiatives led by young women, or initiatives that focus on young women’s issues, and provide them with a platform to make their voices heard.”

The deadline to submit proposals is 30 September 2010. For more information, visit this link.

I take this opportunity to introduce our organization ‘Prakash Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha (PSPS) a non-governmental, non-profit organization established by some dedicated knowledgeable and experienced persons. It is established in 1985 under the Societies Registration Act. 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act. 1950. It is also registered under the Foreign Currency Registration Act.1976. PSPS is working for last 29 years for the development of various segments of rural population in Sangli District.
During the course of our activities related to youth development we experienced that there are so many youth, who are neglected vulnerable and deprived of basic services like health and education. Currently, our sanstha is working with the nomadic tribes called ‘Nandiwale and Gosavi’. We had a series of discussions with this community living in different villages of Tasgaon & Palus block. During the discussions, we come to know that the educational development of these youth Kampers as they have to migrate along with their parents in search of food, as there is no one to take care of them. In this period the health status of these youth also deteriorates. Therefore, we are now planning to implement a comprehensive development programme for such youth living in different villages of Tasgaon and Palus and Jat block in Sangli District.

Since, your Organization is working towards supporting programmes for youth development. If you have issued any guidelines of application for the reciprocation of non-governmental Organization, we request you to kindly send it to us.

We also invite you to our project area to see our activities.
Looking towards to hearing from you soon.

    (Thanking you)
