The Bureau of the Governing Body of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture is accepting project proposals under its Benefit-sharing Fund. Thematic focus of the call is helping to ensure sustainable food security by assisting farmers to adapt to climate change through a targeted set of high impact activities on the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Any governmental or non-governmental organization, including genebanks and research institutions, farmers and farmers’ organizations, and regional and international organizations, based in developing countries that are Contracting Parties to the International Treaty, are eligible to apply for grants under the Benefit-sharing Fund.
- Pre-proposals should be submitted through the national authorities of an eligible Contracting Party to the International Treaty, i.e. through the National Focal Points or through the Permanent Representatives to FAO.
- One country may submit different pre-proposals under Window 2 and Window 3, or more than one pre-proposals under the same window.
- No institution may submit more than one pre-proposal benefitting a particular Contracting Party.

CCDO is requesting any development fund for the promotion of climate change education and sustainable development to Iringa farmers for better agricultural practices so as to assist Mkombilenga villagers to complete the remaining portion which was not completed in the last phase of project. CCDO will build this project on the existing strength/ capacities utilized in the previous phase, that is, phase one. So far, the beneficiaries are involved in decision making and management. NGOs and Government must finance and encourage youth in creation of entrepreneurship because this will help more youth to get a work and to be busy so that they can not get time for inappropriate & illegal activities.
