The United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has issued the
call for applications under the 2010 Project Grants. The Fund is an
opportunity for
NGOs to implement programmes related to trafficking, sexual slavery,
child labour and child servitude, debt bondage, serfdom and forced labour, force marriage, sale of wives etc, which are considered to be part of contemporary forms of slavery and severely affects the
human rights of the individuals. NGOs can propose projects for provision of counseling support, medical aid, food, shelter and vocations
training for victims of trafficking; rehabilitation services through centres for street
children, improving
livelihood skills of victims and assistance in the release of bonded labourers in industries
NGOs can apply for grants up to US $15,000. The application form for this Fund is available at this link. NGOs who are applying this Fund for the first time need to submit additional documents like two recommendation letters, statutes of the organization, registration certification, banking information, three case descriptions and other details.
