The UN-HABITAT has announced the availability of
grants to
NGOs in
developing countries under the
Opportunities Fund for Urban Youth-led Development. The Fund has been developed for the purpose of helping young people so that they are able to uplift themselves and their communities and they are in a better position to take up some of the responsibilities for improvement projects and also take advise from adult experts. The themes to be addressed under this
fund include innovative employment,
governance and secure shelter. Additionally, the Fund emphasizes on vocational
training, entrepreneurship and conscerns and welfare of
women.
The Fund has two types of grants: The Small Grant which has a funding limit of US $5,000 and Large Grant, which has a funding limit of US $25,000. The Small Grant application can be downloaded from this link while the Large Grant Application will be posted later, according to the UN-HABITAT website. NGOs working in developing countries and have a focus on youth-led development are eligible to apply. The last date for submitting proposals is 1 June 2009. For more information, visit this link.
