Development Marketplace

World Bank in partnership with other organizations introduced the Development Marketplace for building competition and innovation in the NGO sector. NGOs are encouraged to be part of this global, regional and national-level competitions announced annually to select the best ideas for development. Besides NGOs, other groups such as social entrepreneurs, academia and business associations can also be part of this Marketplace.

The Development Marketplace provides opportunities for applicant organizations to submit innovative ideas through proposals. Shortlisted organizations are invited to make presentations through stalls at the Marketplace. This event also helps in developing new partnerships and share information and knowledge. The jury comprising of experts from the World Bank and other organizations interview the shortlisted groups and finalize the grantees.

Initially, the Development Marketplace competition was launched globally. Later on, as interest and innovation increased, the World Bank launched the regional and national-level competitions in different countries and regions. Currently, the competition is announced annually in many countries of Africa, Asia and South America.

NGOs interested in presenting innovative proposal ideas can keep monitoring the website of the Development Marketplace competition regularly (the link is here). There are also national and regional websites of this competition.
