Global Fund for Women Funding to remain strong despite Global Financial Crisis

The Global Fund for Women, which is one of the largest donor agencies supporting the cause of women and girls around the world, has announced that it is going to disburse an amount of US $1.8 million to grantees. This is despite the fact that most donors, including bilaterals have been affected by the economic meltdown and have started tightening their resources for international development. Global Fund for Women acknowledges the fact that support for promoting the rights of women and girls has suffered due to the financial crisis, yet it has not withdrawn from its commitment to provide grants for organizations. It will be providing financial assistance between $1000 for start-up initiatives and up to $100,000 for multi-year strategic programs implemented by NGOs around the world to promote and protect women’s rights.
