Changemakers.net have launched the collaborative competition called the “Champions of Quality Education in Africa” for identifying the innovators of quality education in Africa. NGOs are eligible to apply and they should demonstrate that their ideas and practices meet the criteria of innovation, impact and sustainability. The competition is “entrepreneurial African educators and organizations who are working to ensure that pupils in Africa are learning the reading, writing, math, and critical thinking skills that they need to succeed. ” The competition will award three winners with a cash prize of US $5,000. Applicants also have a chance for winning other smaller prizes if they submit their entries before 15 April 2009. Entries can be made online via the Changemakers.net website.
