Human Rights Award from the Robert F Kennedy Center

The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights Award is open to individuals who are working to promote human rights in a non-violent manner. Individuals who are dedicated towards promoting human rights in their own countries despite the existing adverse conditions are preferred for the award. However, it is not necessary that the individual has to be very popular because even ordinary people working in obscurity can be eligible for the award. Nominations are accepted under this award. The nominee should be leading an NGO or at least be associated with it.

The award provides a grant of US $30,000 to the selected individual. Additionally, the Center will also engage in long-term partnerships with the winners and their organizations and provide technical assistance in the long term. There will also be an award ceremony for the giving the grant to the selected person.

The last date for submitting nominations is 15 March 2009. For more information, visit this link.
