MASHAV (Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation), in collaboration with World Meteorological Organization and Israel Meteorological Service under Ministry of Transport, is inviting applications from the individuals in developing countries to participate in Advanced Workshop on Climate Change and Agriculture to be held from 9 to 19 June 2014 in Shefayim, Israel.
Objectives of the workshop are to discuss the effects of climate change on different fields of agriculture and agricultural production; and to demonstrate modern Agro-meteorological Techniques and methods for mitigating the effects of climate change.
The workshop will demonstrate advanced methodologies and techniques developed in order to compensate for the impact of unfavorable climate conditions on agricultural production. It will introduce Israel’s knowledge in various fields such as Irrigation under changing climate conditions; microclimate control in agricultural buildings; forecaster-farmer interaction; cultivation of crops resistant to climate change; and others.
The MASHAV scholarship covers accommodations, tuition fees and field trip transportation.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Meteorological staff of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services engaged and interested in application of advanced Agro-meteorological methodologies and techniques in mitigating the effect of climate change are eligible to apply for the workshop.
- Applicants must have working knowledge of English language.
