The first section of the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) application form seeks to collect information about the applicant. Fill out the name of the organization, address, key contact and other details as requested.
Make sure whether you are a “First Time or Prior Applicant.” If you are applying for the first time, select “First Time Applicant,” if not select the other option. The grant you are requesting is for a project to be implemented in the year 2011 onwards. If you have calculated the project budget, mention the total amount in US dollars in “Amount of Award.”
In “Prior experience,” make sure that you have written clearly about your work. This work should be related to the area under which you are applying. For example, if you are applying for a human rights project in your country or district, then you should have prior experience of working on human rights. If the theme is not similar, at least you can mention about the knowledge of the geographic area where the project will be implemented to ensure your familiarity with the community.
After mentioning the operational budget or the annual income of your organization, you can also give details about “Prior experience with the UN.” Since this is a required field, you need to indicate some collaboration with the United Nations. If you have none, just put it as “Not Applicable.”
In the “Affiliation,” indicate any association with an international organization in any way. Even if you are a member of an international association, you can mention it here. Remember, any affiliation with a reputable international organization will add tremendous credibility to your organization and there is better chance for grant success.
