The Rural Girl Child Mentorship Uganda (RGCM Uganda) Project is a growing girl-to-mentor global nonprofit mentorship program by Pearl Community Empowerment Foundation designed to help poor rural Ugandan girls attend school and work toward achieving their dreams.
The Pearl Community Empowerment Foundation (PCE Foundation) is a Ugandan national rural development and empowerment NGO (REG No S.5914/9510), currently operating in rural communities of the Tororo and Buteleja districts in Eastern Uganda.
The foundation’s mission is to enhance knowledge and skills within rural communities and to promote the exchange of information and best practices through education, mentorship, advocacy and strategic partnerships for social, cultural and economic development. It seeks to break the cycle of poverty and empower communities to take charge of their own development.
Each rural Ugandan girl is connected with a mentor who pays her school fees at the Secondary and Tertiary/ University levels and also helps nurture her vision for a brighter future. The program has been supporting young women since January 2012, and currently supports 103 girls and 5 boys.
Through this RGCM Project, the foundation hopes to promote sustainable, community-driven change.
