The next part of the proposal is the Program Description where you will define the intervention you have planned for the beneficiaries. It is important to put down all the necessary information available like the geographical area for the intervention, number of beneficiaries, the goods and services available and those that need to be provided etc. If the given space in the template is too small, more information can be added in the annex. However, this section has to include Objectives and Indicators. The Indicators have to be divided into three parts: Input Indicators, Output Indicators and Impact Indicators. Input Indicators refer to the indicators that have gone into the activity (it is mostly related to the action undertaken) like “the number of training workshop held with community leaders on gender-based violence.” The Output Indicator is the immediate result one has attained after implementing this activity like “the number of participants who have gained greater clarity on gender-based violence.” The Impact Indicator is the long-term result generated from the activity: “reduced number of cases of gender-based violence.
Step 6
The rest of the proposal consists of the Monitoring & Evaluation Plan, Capacity-building, Coordination, Transition, Management, Security and Sub-Contracts. The Monitoring & Evaluation Plan is the process adopted by the implementing organization to ensure that the progress is recorded and the results of the project are evaluated at the end of the project period. A time-line has to be given as to what kind of results would be achieved during each part of the year. The capacity development component is critical because sustainability of the intervention is important for all donors. This has to be explained here including the level of participation of the beneficiaries in project planning. Coordination is about your efforts to work with other donors, NGOs and governments working in the same area on the same issue and how their resources can be leverage with this funding. Transition will involve how the project support would be withdrawn in a systematic manner so that there is community ownership of the project activities undertaken. Management will outline the staff hierarchy and the roles and responsibilities of the different personnel involved in implementing the project. PRM has also integrated the Security component in the proposal so that precautions are undertaken while implementing the project activities. The Sub-Contracts section has to the list of contractors to be listed out. After outlining the budget information, the organizational chart also has to be enclosed.
