As part of the funding for the new governance package, the Delegation of the European Commission (EC) in South Africa has requested for call for proposals from NGOs and civil society organizations under the Access to Justice and the Promotion of Constitutional Rights Programme. The Programme aims to increase access to justice for all, improving organizational efficiency and tranformming justice, state and society. NGOs activity working for justice, human rights and democratization in the country are eligible to apply for this funding. The funding would focus upon building the capacities of the organizations for undertaking advocacy and lobbying of government policies. The actions to be supported under the programme could include capacity-building, lobbying, advocacy/awarness-raising, networking initiatives/establishing or strengthening networks, debate/discussions/dialogue, litigation and research actions. There is strong preference for proposals that have a focus on vulnerable and marginalized groups and also those that build and strengthen civil society networks. The minimum amount to be granted under this funding is EUR 500,000 and the maximum is EUR 1,000,000.
