UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign launched in 2008 by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s aims at raising public awareness and increasing political will and resources for preventing and ending all forms of violence against women and girls in all parts of the world.
UNiTE brings together a host of UN agencies and offices to galvanize action across the UN system to prevent and punish violence against women. Through UNiTE, the UN is joining forces with individuals, civil society and governments to put an end to violence against women in all its forms.
In this context, UNiTE campaign is being taken forward in the form of a T Shirt design competition in which participants from around the world are encouraged to use imagination and creativity to design a T-shirt with message that promotes building a future without violence.
Eligibility
“Design the UNiTE campaign T-shirt” competition is open to young men worldwide, who are between the ages of 18-25 as of the date of entry.
The UNiTE campaign reserves the right to verify all eligibility requirements.
UNiTE Award
The creators of the five winning designs selected by the judges as well as the creator of the design winning the Public Vote Award will be invited to New York to receive their UNiTE Award and attend the United Nations Official Observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 22 November 2011.
The UNiTE Award may only be taken as stated and cannot be changed. There will be no cash alternatives.
Travel costs to and from New York (economy class), hotel accommodations, and a 2-day living allowance will be provided by the UNiTE campaign.
Public Vote Award
All eligible entries received will be posted online at 24 – 48 hours after submission, and will be available for public voting until 21st October. (Online Voting Period). Visitors to the site will have a chance to vote for their favorite entries during this Online Voting Period.
The contestant with the entry receiving the highest number of public votes and overall rating, as determined by the UNiTE campaign, will be the Public Vote Award winner.
