Québec Fund for Nature and Technology Research (FQRNT) is currently seeking applications from eligible candidates for thematic scholarships aimed at fostering student interest in research and to financially assist the best candidates in undertaking or continuing a Master’s or Doctoral research program or research doctorate in theme areas deemed priorities for FQRNT partners.
Different thematic scholarships on offer for 2012 include:
– Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Scholarships
– Ministry of Transport Scholarships
– Energy research scholarships
– Aerospace scholarships
Target Candidates
Master’s and Doctoral thematic scholarships are intended for candidates who wish to complete a graduate university program in agri-food, transportation, energy or aerospace.
Citizenship and residence
Candidates must meet each of the following three conditions:
– Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents within the meaning of the Immigration Act (L.R.C. 2001, ch.27) have been living in Quebec for at least one year;
– Have been living in Quebec for at least one year;
– Be residents of Quebec within the meaning of the Quebec health Insurance Act (L.R.Q. c. A-29) and of the Quebec Taxation Act and (L.R.Q. c. I-3).
Value of Scholarship
Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Ministry of Transport, Energy research scholarships:
Master’s scholarship
The maximum value of Master’s scholarships or for the first two years of graduate studies is $15,000. The scholarship holder may receive a maximum of six instalments totalling $30,000 within the eligibility period (six sessions or 24 months). Each instalment of a maximum of $5,000 covers a period of four months, or one session.
Doctoral scholarship
The maximum annual value of Doctoral scholarships for the 3rd, 4th and 5th years of graduate studies is $20,000.
The scholarship holder may receive a maximum of nine instalments totalling $60,000 within the eligibility period (nine sessions or 36 months). Each instalment of a maximum of $6,667 covers a period of four months, or one session.
Master and Doctoral Aerospace scholarships
The maximum value of scholarships is $20,000 for a period of three sessions, or 12 months of studies. Within their eligibility period (24 months at the Master’s level and 36 months at the Doctoral level), scholarship holders may receive a maximum of six Master’s instalments and nine Doctoral instalments. Each instalment of a maximum of $6,667 covers a period of four months, or one session.
