The Civil Liberties and Public Policy (CLPP) in partnership with Population and Development (PopDev) programs is organizing the annual activist conference, From Abortion Rights to Social Justice: Building the Movement for Reproductive Freedom to be held from April 13-15, 2012, on the campus of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA.
In this context, proposals are being invited from student, community, and academic activists for individual presentations, workshops, trainings and strategic action sessions during the conference.
About CLPP Conference
CLPP’s annual conference connects activists from across the U.S. and internationally to build a stronger movement for reproductive justice and social change. Through plenaries, workshops, panels, and trainings, the organizers encourage intergenerational dialogue, support youth leadership, and help build the connections and analysis necessary for cross-movement collaborations. During the 30th anniversary conference last year, over 1,200 activists, students and community organizers came from over 300 community groups and 152 campuses to participate in workshops and strategic action sessions addressing abortion and health care access, HIV/AIDS, disability justice, LGBTQQI+ rights, connecting U.S.-based work internationally, gender justice, immigrant rights and reproductive justice, media-making and messaging within the reproductive justice movement, challenging population control, climate justice and much, much, more!
How to Submit the Proposal
Proposals for the 2012 conference should address how presenters will connect the topics to reproductive rights and justice; concrete take-aways, new information, or action items participants will gain; how the presenters became and are currently involved with the issues; and questions that you would like to discuss with conference participants and presenters.
Presentations are typically 10-15 minutes in length, and are combined with two or three other presentations on related topics, followed by time for discussion. Workshops, trainings and strategic action sessions are generally 1½ to 2 hours long. It is encouraged that the proposals are interactive, and generally do not support PowerPoint presentations.
The proposal form also allows presenters to identify further skills, knowledge, and passions that you would like to offer for conference programming.
Last date for submission of proposals is October 7, 2011.
