The Western Cape Department of Social Development has issued call for funding applications (proposals) aimed at rendering certain social development services in the Western Cape for 2012/13 financial year and thereafter.
Registered and eligible non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for this funding to render following services related to social development on behalf of the department:
- Children and Families: Child care and protection, care and support to families, HIV/AIDS;
- Special Programs: Substance abuse, older persons, disability;
- Social Crime Prevention: Crime prevention, victim empowerment;
- Community Development: Youth development, sustainable livelihood;
- Partnership Development: Institutional capacity building.
The grantees are expected to implement these programs at the levels of awareness raising and prevention, early intervention, statutory and re-integration.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be registered in terms of the NPO Act 71 of 1997 or Item 1 of Schedule 1 of the Companies Act 71 of 2008;
- The above-mentioned registrations must be current and proof of validity must be Included in the funding application (i.e. de-registered organizations will automatically be disqualified);
- If the proposal relates to a specialized service, the organization must additionally be registered in terms of the applicable legislative requirements;
- Proven track record of rendering of social welfare services within the RSA.
