The “Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Program” had announced grant opportunities for NGOs this year by the Toyota Motor Corporation’s (TMC) under the themes of “Biodiversity Conservation” and “Global Warming Countermeasures.” The General Grants under this are offered to NGOs which have received grants previously and the small-scale grants are offered to organizations in Japan only. Now, TMC has announced the grantees for the program for 2009. Out of the ten organizations selected for the grant support, eight have projects on Biodiversity conservation “such as the Strategic Management Plan for the Biodiversity Conservation Based on Geoecological Types (GET) on Hahajima Island, in the Bonin (Ogasawara) Islands, Southern Japan” and two for global farming “such as the Development of Sustainable Organic Agriculture and Securing a Heat Source for Houses through the Effective Use of Natural Energy.” Some of the organizations funded include The Nature Conservation Society of Japan, “Kyozon no Mori” Network, NPO Kaifu Nature Network, Ecological Way of Lifestyle Non Profit Organization Mulberry Club Chubu, Wild Bird Society of Japan, Nature Film Network, Science School S&I Japan, BirdLife Asia and others.
