The Russian government agrees to grant funds for implementation of the Arctic Council’s environmental friendly projects. These funds are required to prevent pollution in the arctic. NEFCO is associated with us to administer the funds. The Russian government has taken up highly extensive clean-up initiative to address environmental issues affecting the Arctic. Addressing the occasion, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Yuri Trutnev said, “We want the Arctic to be clean.” He also said, “We have 194 spots throughout Russian territory including the arctic to address and we acknowledge the cooperation with NEFCO to not only finance the arctic initiatives but also on exchange of knowledge as well as opinions. To eliminate eco-hot-spots in the extreme north region, NEFCO also expressed its satisfaction with Russian contributes.
NEFCO’s Managing Director, Magnus Rystedt, addressing the occasion said, “We are extremely delighted with the fact that the Russian government is taking an active role in supporting environmental protection in the Arctic region. The financial boost provided under this agreement will enable us to finance a wide range of environmental projects in the Russian Arctic within the near future”
