On Wednesday, the Jordan chapter of USAID honored 16 reporters with graduation, after they successfully participated in the “Economic Reporters Training Program.” USAID had collaborated with Future Builder’s Forum for the program.
The main purpose of the training was to make the economic skills of reporters more efficient, and to develop a network among the reporters to foster better relationships and professionalism among the journalist community.
The training was organized by the USAID Jordan Economic Development Program for the third time. It aimed to improve the reporting abilities of journalists who deal with economic news. The participants included journalism graduates, who learned the skills required for reporting economic issues.
The training included micro and macroeconomic principles, and also involved case-studies of economic articles. The participants could discuss the strengths and weaknesses of such articles. Economic experts also addressed the participants and told them about their experiences, and involved them in healthy and active discussions.
After completing the training, the participants received an opportunity to work as an intern at one of the leading Jordanian media organizations. This internship will provide them practical and hand-on experience of economic reporting.
