The International Indigenous Development Research Conference 2012 will be hosted by Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga from June 27 – 30, 2012. The conference will be held at the University of Auckland which is located in the CBD of the city of Auckland. Earlier this conference was known as Traditional Knowledge conference. The 5th biennial international conference will highlight indigeneity and the multidisciplinary approach used for indigenous development.
The 2012 conference is expected to be all-encompassing and multi-disciplinary, welcoming indigenous scholars from many different research fields and many nations to come together and share knowledge, develop ideas and create innovative approaches to research.
Call for Abstracts
Abstracts are being invited from scholars for the International Indigenous Development Research Conference 2012. Organizers will select Session Chairs from accepted abstracts and conference panel members. Please indicate your willingness to chair a session on your abstract form.
Standard presentations will be 20 mins in length, plus 5 mins for questions. All presentations will be assigned to a session by theme.
Themes
Presentations and papers will address all aspects of the following themes central to the realisation of indigenous development:
- Optimising Indigenous Economic Wellbeing
- Healthy and Thriving Indigenous Families
- Enhancing Indigenous Distinctiveness.
- All presentations are expected to address one or more of the following:
- Indigenous Knowledge Creation
- Building Excellent Indigenous Research Capability
- Research and Indigenous Transformation.
Paper Submission
A conference proceedings will be published to provide a permanent published record of the papers presented. Please indicate your willingness to write a scholarly paper for this proceedings on your abstract form.
The registrations for the conference will open in January 2012.

Acceptance of an abstract does not confer any monetary assistance to attend the conference, and all expenses, travel, accommodation and registration fees must be met by the individual.
